Only a few California schools are linked with an equestrian training center, and Monte Vista Christian School in Santa Cruz County is one of them. Beginning in sixth grade, students at this middle school and high school equestrian program can utilize horseback riding instruction as well as advanced equestrian training. Horseback riding lessons are offered for beginners, and more advanced riders may participate in team competitions such as the Interscholastic Equestrian Association. This equestrian training center caters to riders in San Jose, Salinas, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Santa Cruz, and Watsonville, offering an endless support system and a sense of community and belonging. Not only are students able to take advantage of equestrian training during the school day, students who own horses are able to enjoy the horse boarding that Monte Vista Christian School has to offer as well. Lessons are available before, during, and after school hours. This professional equestrian training center includes two large riding arenas and a large horse barn. Summer camp opportunities are available for younger students, and older students may learn leadership skills as they have the opportunity to assist.
