Equestrian students at Monte Vista Christian School don’t have the typical Physical Education experience. There is no flexed-arm hang, sit-and-reach, shuttle run, or timed mile for them! Instead, students pull on their riding boots and saddle up a horse. They ride around the well-manicured horse arenas maintained by the on-campus company Belmont Training Stable. Beginner riders through advanced are welcome at this California equestrian program, and students come from many surrounding areas including Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Hollister, Salinas, and Santa Cruz. Other opportunities at Belmont Stables in Watsonville include horseback riding lessons on the weekends, horse boarding, and equestrian training at the competition level. Younger students are welcome to attend summer camps where they enjoy many hours in the horse arena, swimming, tie-dying, and the snack bar. Overall, Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, California offers a unique opportunity for equestrian training for riding enthusiasts in the San Jose area.
